PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver which can sharply improve preset malfunctions and a search shut-down malfunction by an 8-channel signal when there is no signal for VHF7 channel, by a quite simple means that an auto-preset by soft change of a channel selection microcomputer and a local oscillation frequency of 7-channel at auto-search operation are made lower by 0.5 MHz, and which can substantially cancel the malfunctions in a practical received field. SOLUTION: To reduce malfunctions, by dropping an 8-channel video image carrier signal into the trap of an intermediate-frequency band selecting filter and reducing the receiving sensitivity, by setting the local oscillation frequency of a tuner at the 7-channel to be received by 0.5 MHz lower than the regular tuning frequency at the auto-preset operation and at the auto-search operation.
