PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image processing apparatus and a color image processing method capable of sufficiently utilizing a color reproduction region at a low luminance in the case of converting an input color signal into a color signal including an achromatic color and particular colors and enhancing the reproducibility of high saturation colors. SOLUTION: An achromatic UCR conversion section 2 and a chromatic UCR conversion section 3 determine an achromatic color K signal and particular RGB color signals and determine the remaining C"M"K" color signals through UCR processing. On the other hand, a CMY correction value determining section 4 determines correction valuesΔCΔMΔY from the K signal, a CMY correction value summation section 5 summates theΔCΔMΔY to the C"M"K" color signals to determine C"'M"'Y"' color signals. Thus, color reproduction in four-dimensional colors can be attained at a low luminance region. Further, a K correction value determining section 6 determines a correction valueΔK from RGB color signals and a K correction value subtraction section 7 subtracts the correction valueΔK from the K signal to obtain a K' signal.
