PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device with superior maintainability which precisely corrects display characteristic unevenness between image projection means with simple and inexpensive constitution. SOLUTION: The image display device which projects and displays images on screens 17-1 to 17-4 by a plurality of image projecting means 1-1 to 1-4 each having an image projection optical system 16 having a projection lens 15 has: a switching means 2 of supplying a test pattern signal selectively to the plurality of image projecting means; light converging means 5-1 to 5-5 which are provided corresponding to the respective image processing means and converge projection light beams of the test pattern image projected by the image projecting means; optical transmission means 6-1 to 6-4 which are coupled with the light converging means and transmits the converged light; a common photodetecting means 3 of photodetecting light beams transmitted from the respective optical transmission means; and an arithmetic means 4 of calculating correction data for image signals to the respective image projecting means based upon the output of the photodetecting means 3.
