PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus capable of preventing an image quality from being degraded and reducing power consumption if necessary by keeping the reflectance of a liquid crystal on the white portion of a screen. SOLUTION: The display apparatus keeps a displayed image without supplying electric power and erases and rewrites the image by applying a pulse voltage, wherein the apparatus is equipped with: a display unit 101 having a display screen to display an image; a voltage measuring circuit 115 to detect the residual electric power to be used to display an image on the display unit 101; and a controller 111 which decreases the power required for rewriting images on the display unit 101 when it detects that the residual electric power reaches to or lower than predetermined electric power, and which controls the pulse conditions of the pulse voltage as far as not decreasing the reflectance representing white portion in the image.
