PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container lid member capable of excellently tightly and securely closing the upper end opening of a container so that it is freely opened. SOLUTION: The container lid member A comprises a top plate 1, and a cylindrical peripheral wall 2 integrally formed to be bent down from the outer circumferential edge of the top plate 1. The container lid member A has a peripheral groove 21 formed by projecting at least part of the peripheral wall 2 along the entire circumference in the direction of the increase of the diameter. Recesses and projections are formed on the inner circumferential face of at least the peripheral groove 21 of the lid member A by embossing. Accordingly the peripheral groove is circumferentially shrinkable due to the wrinkles formed by the embossing. Thus, while radially stretched, the peripheral groove of the lid member can be locked onto the locking projection of the container so as to be freely unlocked.
