A wood backing device having tenoning and mortising spindles and featuring one or more backing pieces capable of being swivelled through a horizontal plane against the end of a section of framing lumber. The backing device is disposed on a mounting member capable of moving in the horizontal direction. It should be designed in such a way that the tenoning and mortising spindle is permitted to move at an angle with respect to the axis of such device. A ring is arranged concentrically in relation to and connected with the stationary bearing of such tenoning and mortising spindle. One or more bearings for the rotatable plate bearing the backing piece mounting member are disposed on the circumferential edge of the ring. The plate is connected through a flexible form-fitting connecting means, such as a toothed belt, chain or similar connecting means, to a further stationary plate of the same size arranged concentrically with respect to the spindle. |
