PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device having a low drive voltage and long lifetime; and to provide an organic electroluminescent device having a low drive voltage and enabling light emission in a desired color. SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent device 100 has a structure that includes a hole injecting electrode 2, a hole injecting layer 3, a hole transporting layer 4, a light emitting layer 5, an electron restricting layer 6, an electron transporting layer 7, and an electron injecting electrode 8 that are sequentially formed on a substrate 1.
