PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a drying time of clothes and improve drying efficiency by setting appropriate ventilating air volume. SOLUTION: The ventilating dryer is provided with an air blower for ventilation for ventilating air in a drying chamber, an air blower for circulation having a heater for heating by circulating the air in the drying chamber, and a detecting means for detecting a temperature and humidity in the drying chamber. In switching the ventilating air volume every predetermined time (for example every ten minutes), a dry bulb-wet bulb temperature difference after switching the ventilation air volume is detected after a predetermined time when the wet bulb-dry bulb temperature difference stabilizes, KG is obtained by extrapolating a value corresponding to a same time as after a predetermined time of the dry bulb-wet bulb temperature difference before switching the ventilation air volume, and the ventilation air volume is selected and switched so that the dry bulb-wet bulb temperature difference in the drying chamber becomes large before and after switching the ventilation air volume.
