PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ash dispersing method which is solemn and safe, of which the preparation is simple, and which hardly has fear for affecting the environment, and to provide a funeral method using the ash dispersing method. SOLUTION: In this ashes dispersing method for dispersing ashes 7 in the air, the ashes 7 are housed in a flying object 1 enclosing a gas such as helium, and the flying object 1 is made to fly in the air. When the flying object 1 breaks at a high altitude by swelling and being cooled, the ashes 7 are dispersed in the air. Therefore, the ashes 7 are safely, quietly and solemnly housed in the flying object 1, and the flying object 1 can be made to fly high in the air by utilizing the helium gas or the like. The flying object 1 constituted of a rubber or the like swells at a high altitude, cooled, and naturally broken by brittleness, and the ashes 7 can be dispersed over a wide range in the air.
