[0091] A cyclonic separation device for a vacuum cleaner has an elongated housing with an inlet opening, an upper separation portion and a lower dirt collection portion with a side opening door. A central outlet tube assembly extends into at least the upper portion of the separation portion of the housing. A decoupling or disrupter ring is positioned on the inside wall of the housing between the separation portion and the collection portion to assist in the separation. The decoupling ring or short section of an inverted frusto-conical cone is positioned mid-way down the container wall at the lower end of the separation zone. A second stage fine dust separating cyclone may be coaxially mounted within the cylindrical container with a conical shroud surrounding the cone to allow air to travel to the large cone opening.
