<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating organic waste, from the fermentation tank of which excess water is removed while supplying air of the sufficient amount into the fermentation tank to promote the fermentative decomposition of organic waste. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus 1 for treating organic waste is provided with the fermentation tank 5 for decomposing organic waste by fermentation. A discharge port 52a is arranged at the bottom of the fermentation tank 5 for discharging the treated material decomposed in the fermentation tank 5. A lower lid 54 is arranged for opening/closing the discharge port 52a. An air supplying port 54b is arranged on the lower lid 54 for supplying air into the fermentation tank 5.
