PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp lighting device in which misoperation of circuit and noise or the like, when the bulb comes off the induction coil, are surely prevented and safety can be secured, and to provide an electrodeless discharge lamp device that uses the same. SOLUTION: The electrodeless discharge lamp device 1 is equipped with the electrodeless discharge lamp, consisting of a bulb 2 filled with a discharge gas inside and an electrodeless discharge lamp lighting device 16 which comprises an induction coil 3 that is arranged adjacent to the electrodeless discharge lamp and excites the discharge gas by being supplied with high-frequency power and by generating high-frequency electromagnetic field, a high-frequency power supply part 7 for supplying high-frequency power to the induction coil 3, a magnetic field detecting part 17 that is arranged in the high-frequency electromagnetic field and detects the magnetic intensity of the high-frequency electromagnetic field, and a control part 18 that makes operation of the high-frequency power supply part 7 stopped, when the detected output changes by a prescribed amount from the detected output of the field detection part 17, when the bulb 2 is located at the prescribed position with respect to the induction coil 3.
