PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector array for an optical encoder, used in relation to different scales having different radii of curvature. SOLUTION: The photodiode detection array includes a plurality of photodiodes, and each of the photodiodes provides a position signal, when the detector array moves to the scale. Each of the photodiodes and the other photodiode are provided so as to be selectively combined in a method in which a plurality of switching elements are specified. In the switching element, the photodiode is clearly combined for at least two different scale radii of curvature, and the position signal of the number specified as the result is generated in each case.
