PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent thermoplastic resin excellent in transparency and water absorption properties. SOLUTION: The transparent thermoplastic resin is produced by hydrogenating≥70% to <97% of aromatic rings in a copolymer having≥0.25 to <1.0 molar ratio (A/B) expressed by a structural unit originating from a (meth)acrylic ester monomer unit (A mole) over a structural unit (B mole) of an aromatic vinyl monomer in the structural units of the copolymer obtained by polymerizing the monomer composition comprising the (meth)acrylic ester monomer and the aromatic vinyl monomer.
