PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping characteristic control system enabling a user to adjust the damping characteristic of a shock absorber arbitrarily and capable of generating damping characteristic being the optimum for running situation of a vehicle in the shock absorber and to provide a control method of the damping characteristic control system. SOLUTION: In this damping characteristic control system for controlling damping force generated by the shock absorber provided between a vehicle body side member and an axle side member of a vehicle or this control method of the damping characteristic control system, a damping characteristic inputting means or a damping characteristic inputting step is provided to control damping characteristic generated by the shock absorber based on arbitrary damping characteristic inputted adequately.
