PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the problem of, in particular, streaks in succession without lowering throughput while making full use of the feature of multi-path printing performed in a recording apparatus. SOLUTION: When a plurality of scans are performed (first to third scans) over the same area 21 of a recording medium, out of a plurality of mask patterns corresponding to each of the plurality of scans, the recording ratio (1/4 duty) of the mask patterns corresponding to the scans (the first to the third scans) in which a group of recording elements (a nozzle group c2 and a nozzle group a2) including the recording elements at the end parts are used, are made smaller than the recording ratio (1/2 duty) of the mask patterns corresponding to the scan (the second scan) in which a group of the recording elements (the nozzle group b2) not including the recording elements at the end parts are used. Thus, the recording rate of the recording elements at the end parts are made smaller and the streaks in succession can be made thinner even if a joint streak is generated accompanying a conveyance error.
