SOLUTION: The apparatus A for cooling the shape steel 1 is provided with a plurality of inside cooling nozzles 3a, 3b, 4a, 4c for cooling the inside surface of the flange 1fa or 1fb on the other side across the pass line P which are provided across the pass line P on the conveying route of the shapes 1 and in zigzag along the pass line P on at least one side of the upper part or the lower part of a pair of side guides 2a, 2b which are mutually moved approachably and separably. An inside cooling nozzle is made into a flat spray nozzle and so that a torsional angleθ(°) which is formed with the major axis of the jetting port and the conveying direction of the shapes 1 is, in the case that a nozzle pitch is p and the jetting angle isα(°), 70-0.075×pä(α/25)+0.4}≤θ≤80-0.075×pä(α/25)+0.4} and satisfies the relationship of 150≤p≤500. According to this invention, jetted cooling water does not interfere with each other, the variation in the temperature of the shapes is suppressed and efficient cooling is possible.
