A novel mobile storage system capable of automatically compressing and decompressing accessed data and access method thereof. A compress and decompress component and its installer are built in the mobile storage device. The installer is automatically or manually initiated, and the compress and decompress component is installed into the computor operating system, such that the accessed computer files can be compressed and decompressed automatically. By using the present invention, user may access information which is more times than its nominal capacity to/from the mobile storage device without manually performing any compress and decompress operations.
