<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover sheet for an optical recording medium which can prevent the separation at the edge part, when used as the cover sheet for the optical recording medium, and to provide the optical recording medium which can prevent the separation at the edge part of the cover sheet. <P>SOLUTION: In the cover sheet for the optical recording medium, a hard coat layer is stacked on a disk-like transparent sheet having a center hole. A linear crack is provided along the circumferential direction near the outer periphery part of the hard coat layer. The optical recording medium includes at least a recording layer, the transparent sheet, and the hard coat layer, in this order, on a disk-like substrate having the center hole.
