PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a facsimile machine discriminates the information amount of an image photographed by a digital still camera in such a way that the information amount photographed by the camera with 3 millions of pixels is sometimes greater than the information amount photographed by the camera with 4 millions of pixels since the information amount by one partial page is greatly changed depending on a compression rate at JPEG coding although the facsimile machine can recognize a total number of pixels of a transmitted image according to X and Y parameters included in a JPEG header of the transmitted image at a point of time when the facsimile machine receives the JPEG header included in information transmitted from the digital still camera. SOLUTION: Each of facsimile machines capable of communicating JPEG information of a color space sYCC includes: a means for informing of the presence/no presence of a reception function of JPEG coded information in the color space sYCC in a preceding step; and a means for designating transmission of the JPEG coded information in the color space sYCC from a transmitter facsimile machine to a receiver facsimile machine, and the receiver facsimile machine determines whether or not the reception operation is to be continued depending on the information amount actually received by one partial page and the number of pixels actually received by the one partial page at a point of time when the receiver receives the one partial page.
