PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure stability of broad dynamic range properties or operation of optical output adjustment in an optical transmitter of APC system, and to improve degradation detection accuracy of a light emitting element. SOLUTION: The optical transmitter is provided with a light receiving element 2 which receives optical output of the light emitting element 1 and generates a current relative to the intensity of received light, a current/voltage converter 3 which converts current generated by the light receiving element 2 into voltage, a comparison amplifier 5 which compares voltage signals outputted by the current/voltage converter 3 with voltage signals outputted by a reference voltage source and amplifies it, a light emitting element driving circuit 6 which varies the driving current according to the voltage signals outputted by the comparison amplifier 5, and an automatic optical output control loop stabilizing circuit 7 having a current source 71. The automatic optical output control loop stabilizing circuit 7 operates so as to cover shortfall of the current supplied to the current/voltage converter 3 by the light receiving element 2.
