PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sensor device that is inexpensive and has high detection accuracy, using a conventional optical sensor device (general-purpose product). SOLUTION: In the optical sensor device 15 for detecting a medium, based on variation of the light-receiving amount of a light-receiving element 16 by shielding of light from a light-emitting element 4 by a carrier medium, a translucent member 23 having a projection 24 is arranged, at a place where the light is transmitted from the light-emitting element 4 to the light-receiving element 16. The projection 24 is engaged with a hole 14 disposed in an upper conveyance guide 12, and is gripped and mounted so as to be overlap between the upper carrier guide 12 and the optical sensor device 15. As a result of such a constitution, the light emitted from the light-emitting element 4 is regulated and narrowed by the projection 24 of the translucent member 23.
