PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray foreign-matter detector, capable of preventing the leak of X-rays to the outside of the X-ray foreign-matter detector in the automatic setting of parameters for prescribing inspection conditions. SOLUTION: The X-ray foreign-matter detector 100, for inspecting foreign matter in an inspection target 1 by the irradiation with X-rays, is equipped with a transport part 110, an X-ray generator 120, an X-ray line sensor 130, a housing, a plurality of shielding curtains and a transport control means 144 for performing predetermined transport control, including the control for reversing the feed direction of the transport part 110 when a parameter for prescribing the inspection condition by repeatedly transporting the inspection target 1 by the transport part 110. This X-ray foreign matter detector 100 is also equipped with an article detecting means for detecting the presence of the inspection target 1 and an X-ray irradiation control means 143 for temporarily stopping the irradiation with X-rays from the X-ray generator 120 during the stop of feed, in order to reverse the transport direction by at least the feed control means 144, on the basis of the data from the article detecting means.
