PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that suffers little degradation in electron source characteristics with time and suffers hardly noticeable unevenness of brightness or color shift of the image. SOLUTION: The image display device comprises: an electron source substrate 101 on which a plurality of electron emitting elements 104 are arranged; an image-forming substrate 112 opposed to the substrate 101 and having a phosphor film 111 and an anode electrode film 110; and a magnetic field generating means 121. A component of a flux density of the magnetic field generated by the magnetic field generating means 121 parallel to the electron source substrate 101 is 0.01 tesla or lower at the position of the electron emitting elements 104.
