The invention concerns a door stop with indeterminate retaining positions, applicable in particular to motor vehicle openings, comprising a hinged guide (1), secured to a fixed part (body), or the mobile part (door), and a mechanism secured (9) to the other part (door or body), such that the guide (1) and the mechanism (9) may move relatively to each other, the retaining function being provided by a relative locking between those two elements (fig. 1). The mechanism (9) comprises a carriage (2), equipped with a brake-roller (21) maintained in contact with the guide (1), as well as with a braking element (23), to lock the whole assembly. When a force greater than a predetermined unlocking threshold is applied on the door, the pin (22) of the roller (21) starts to slide into elongated lateral openings (25, 26) which retain it, until the roller (21) exits the brake element (23), thereby enabling it to be rotated and the assembly to be unlocked. The locked return to the initial position is automatically produced through the elastic assembly (24), when the driving effort ceases. |
