PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict a consumption rate of difference volume by using a difference snapshot and volume snapshot in combination. SOLUTION: A preparation method of a snapshot comprises a procedure (S1) for receiving a snapshot preparation request from a client computer; a procedure (S3) for obtaining a use ratio of renewed difference in the second volume when receiving the snapshot preparation request; a procedure (S2) for obtaining a usage history of renewed difference in the second volume of a user; processes (S4 and S5) for selecting one of the difference snapshot writing a renewed difference of a first volume into the second volume on the basis of the use ratio and usage history and a volume snapshot synchronizing a third volume to the first volume; and procedures (S6 and S7) for executing one of the selected difference snapshot or the volume snapshot.
