PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator with an excellent and stable occlusion state of its bottom part formed by folding in radial direction, capable of surely restraining a gelatinous negative electrode mixture from leaking out in a cell can without using another component such as a bottom paper sheet, and an alkaline dry cell with improved productivity and cost reduction with the use of the separator. SOLUTION: The separator 22 of a bottomed cylinder shape interposed between a circular positive electrode mixture 21 and a gelatinous anode mixture 23 in a metal cell can of a bottomed cylinder shape is formed by winding a strip separator material 220 of a given width in a cylindrical shape, and a bottom part 22a is formed by folding one of the width end of the strip separator material 220 in radial direction, and further, a regular creased part 222 is formed at the width end forming the bottomed part 22a in advance.
