PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diffraction grating-optical modulator assembly having a structure and constitution in which stripes on an image caused by dust and foreign matters existing on the surface and inside an optical transmission member are hardly generated. SOLUTION: The diffraction grating-optical modulator assembly is provided with (A) a diffraction grating-optical modulator 11 having a supporting body 12 and (B) an optical transmission member 13 which is opposed to the optical incidence and emission section of the diffraction grating-optical modulator 11 and passes incident light beams that are made incident on the diffraction grating-optical modulator and emitting light beams that are emitted from the diffraction grating-optical modulator.
