PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal block material charging device into a melting furnace, capable of suppressing scattered molten metal while increasing conveyance efficiency of a metal block material, suppressing catching of the metal block material to the vicinity of a material charging port of the melting furnace, and suppressing that the metal block material is blocked by an oxide even when the thick oxide is generated on the surface of molten metal. SOLUTION: The metal block material 7 is conveyed with the metal block material 7 sideways laid down by a conveying device 1. A bucket 40 in a first position receives the metal block material with the metal block material 7 sideways laid down. The bucket is changed over to a second position, and the metal block material is disposed such that a length direction of the metal block material stored in the bucket is along the vertical direction. A part of the metal block material stored in the bucket changed over to the second position is held by a holding part 60 of a holding device 6, and the metal block material is charged in the melting furnace 2 in a state that the length direction of the metal block material is along the vertical direction.
