PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily visualize the descending state of a needle threader. SOLUTION: The lower end of a needle threading shaft 1 liftably provided behind a needle bar 4 of a sewing machine is provided with an indicator 3 projected in a lateral direction, and the indicator 3 moves up and down together with the needle threading shaft 1, and turns around the shaft. When the needle threading shaft 1 descends, the indicator 3 appears from the inside of an outer cover 14 and becomes visible from the front of the sewing machine. Because of projecting in the lateral direction, the indicator 3 is clearly visible without intercepting the visual field by the needle bar 4. The needle bar 4 is thereby prevented from being moved up and down by mistake in the lowered state of the needle threader. Further, since a plate face of the indicator faces the front in the state of a hook part of the needle threading shaft being turned and inserted in a needle hole 5a, an operator can easily confirm an angle around the shaft.
