The crankshaft has a set of base pivots and hub pivots. A set of side walls (5, 6) is arranged between the adjacent base and hub pivots and between the adjacent hub pivots. The sidewalls are provided with locally restricted recesses (18). The recesses overlap with the base area, of the side walls, adjacent to the base and hub pivots in the radial direction. The recesses are provided directly adjacent to load area of the pivots.
