A method for data transmission between a transmitter of a sensor (2.1/2.2) and a receiver of a central control unit (2) in a motor vehicle safety application, in which the transmitter and the receiver has independent time-bases, and the transmitter sends out a definite number (A1) of data protocols per fixed time interval (T1) of the transmitter (2.1/2.2), and in the receiver a number (A2) of the equidistant time-sections of received values are determined per time interval (T2) of the receiver, and the average values formed in the equally spaced time-sections serve in the central control unit (2) algorithm as input variables for its further computer tasks.
