<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily update a setting file where monitor items are set. <P>SOLUTION: A network board NB1 stores the serial number of a printer where a network board NB1 is set before the power source is applied to a printer PRT1. The network board NB1 decides whether or not the current serial number 260 of a printer PRT1 where the network board NB1 is set is currently identical to the serial number 260a of a printer PRT2 where the network board NB1 is set before the power source is applied to the printer PRT1, and when it is decided that they are not identical, the network NB1 notifies a management server SV of the model name 270 of the printer PRT1.
