PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film holder for accurately positioning a photographic film in the reading area of an image reader, and to provide an image reader using the film holder. SOLUTION: The film holder for positioning the film document in the reading area of the image reader includes: a holding section for holding both ends of the film document so that the first face of the film document projectingly curves; a transparent section having a platen for pressing the projectingly curved first face of the film document and positioning the film document.
