PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for assisting the protection of a passenger of a vehicle comprising a roof, a lateral structure, and a trim piece which overlaps with this structure. SOLUTION: In order that an inflatable curtain 14 can be moved so as to be developed toward the inner side of a trim piece 310, a developable lamp 180 can be moved from a storage position to an unfolding position. The developable lamp has elasticity high enough to move the inflatable curtain toward the inner side of the trim piece and has a rigid structure. The developable lamp is connected to a vehicle 12 through a connector piece 162. The connector piece comprises a fist part 174 fixed to the developable lamp and a second part 168 connectable to the vehicle. The connector piece has a highly nonelastic and flexible structure so as to move the developable lamp to the developing position substantially without any restriction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
