PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assemble each component with high accuracy and high working efficiency and to stabilize operating force of an operating lever while preventing distortion of a backrest. SOLUTION: This reclining device 1 for a vehicle is constituted by interposing a reclining mechanism 4 between a fixed bracket 2 and a movable bracket 3, interposing a return spring 8 between both brackets 2, 3, providing both brackets 2, 3 with stopper parts 5a, 5b and 15a, 15b, and journaling a lever 21 turnably to the fixed bracket 3. A support bracket 5 provided with a hook (a locking part) 20c for locking one end of the return spring 8, the stopper parts 5a, 5b and a lever 21, is constituted as a separate member from the fixed bracket 2, and a collar 19 is bound to the support bracket 5.
