<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium wherein recording/reproduction of data can be performed and erasure and rewriting of recorded data can be performed in each recording layer even when an interlayer distance of the recording layers is made narrower than the focal depth of light. <P>SOLUTION: The recording medium 1 is provided with a plurality of transparent electrode layers E and recording layers R each interposed between the transparent electrode layers E and recording data by irradiation with an optical spot. Each recording layer R is provided with an anodic EC layer A and a cathodic EC layer C consisting of an electrochromic material and an electrolyte layer B including an ion conduction member I consisting of an electrolyte and a phase transition member T whose electric resistance is reversibly transferred between an amorphous phase of high electric resistance and a crystal phase of low electric resistance by heating. The ion conduction member I and the phase transition member T are penetrated through the electrolyte layer B between the transparent electrode layers in the thickness direction in a region irradiated with the optical spot. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
