<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler to which a valve device can be simply and reliably welded without adhesion of spatters onto a plate-like valve in welding. <P>SOLUTION: An inside space of a muffler body is partitioned into one side muffling chamber 16A and the other side muffling chamber 16B by a partition wall 14. An opening 14a is formed in the partition wall 14. A valve device 30 is provided to a position corresponding to the opening 14a. The valve device 30 is equipped with a base 32 having a valve hole 31, a plate-like valve 33 for opening/closing the valve hole 31, a plate spring 35 for biasing the plate-like valve 33 in the valve closing direction and a stopper member 34 for regulating the valve opening quantity of the plate-like valve 33. The valve device 30 is welded in such a manner that the positioning is made from the other side muffling chamber 16B with respect to the opening 14a of the partition wall 14 and that the valve hole 31 is covered with a specified shielding member 62 from one side muffling chamber 16A opposite to the other side muffling chamber 16B. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
