PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film having improved optical characteristics and reducing luminescent spots and foreign materials observed under an orthogonal state of a polarizing plate, to provide a method for producing the optical film, and to provide a method for producing the optical film having low production load and equipment cost accompanied by drying and recovery of a solvent.

SOLUTION: The cellulose ester film is obtained by heat melting a cellulose ester encapsulating at least one or more kinds of additives and having ≤1 μm maximum particle diameter of the additives.
