PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of furthermore suppressing production of a false color signal by utilizing the correlation of color signals with respect to edges in a plurality of directions including oblique directions. SOLUTION: A data interpolation section 6 includes: a directional data calculation section means 61 that quantitizes the directivity of an edge around a target pixel in a plurality of directions including at least either of an obliquely right upward direction and an obliquely right downward direction to calculate directivity data; a directivity detection section 62 that uses the directivity data in a plurality of the directions calculated by the directional data calculation section means 61 to detect the directivity of the edge around the target pixel; a directivity color signal calculation section 63 that calculates the color signal corresponding to the directivity detected by the directivity detection section 62; and a target pixel color signal calculation section 64 that uses one or more color signals calculated by the directivity color signal calculation section 63 to calculate the color signal of the target pixel.
