PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control technology for a data processing system which can effectively use an existing system and can reduce the cost of the entire system by achieving a function possessed by a high-function/high-performance storage system in a storage area in an inexpensive storage system. SOLUTION: The data processing system has a RAID system 100, an external subsystem 400, a management server 610, a management client 620, and the like. The management server 610 has an information management table 612 for storing mapping information on the RAID system 100 and the external subsystem 400. For performing copy processing, the management client 620 uses the information management table 612 to create a pair of a logical volume of the RAID system 100 as an primary volume of a copy source and a logical volume of the mapping object of the RAID system 100 mapped from the logical volume of an external subsystem 400 as a secondary volume of a copy destination.
