PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-liquid contact apparatus whose allowable range of the amount of a descending liquid or the amount of an ascending gas can be made larger by optimizing a combination of a liquid distributor and a self-distribution promotion type regular filler and lowering the lower limit value of the amount of a liquid holdup. SOLUTION: A packed layer of the gas-liquid contact apparatus, a fill layer in which the self-distribution promotion type regular filler is filled is formed of a lower main fill layer and an upper sub fill layer. Another self-distribution promotion type regular filler having the specific surface area smaller than that of the self-distribution promotion type regular filler filled in the main fill layer is filled in the sub fill layer. A liquid distributor having the liquid dispersion density smaller than the corresponding liquid dispersion density of the self-distribution promotion type regular filler filled in the main filler layer is used as the liquid distributor arranged above the sub fill layer.
