<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radar device having a good tracking capability and capable of accurately measuring a position by flexibly switching between searching and tracking modes based on a movement characteristic of a target such as a revolution in a satellite orbit of the earth. <P>SOLUTION: The radar device includes a direction control means controlling a direction of an electric wave, a transmitting means transmitting the electrical wave via an antenna to the direction controlled by the direction control means, a receiving means receiving a reflection echo of the electric wave via the antenna, a target detecting means detecting the target from the received reflection echo and measuring the target position, a target tracking means estimating positions of the detected target at a plurality of detected times, an orbit calculation/estimation means approximately calculating an elliptic orbit passing the target position at the plurality of detected times, and a mode control means determining a timing for retracking the target based on the calculation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
