Method and device for providing continuous informations to the driver of a tunnelling machine regarding the material in front of the device

The method involves directly placing data acquisition sensors (1-4) on each drilling wheel (M) for providing a signal representing a penetration force of the drilling wheels, drilling wheel position, rotation state of the wheels and a drilling wheel temperature. An electrical power is supplied to the sensors by a battery integrated to the wheels or by wireless transmission from a support (R) of each wheel. An independent claim is also included for a tunneling machine equipping felling head that carries supports for drilling wheels.
