Automatic transition fluid composition comprising a base oil prepared from a Fischer-Tropsch product. The base oil may have a pour point of below -40 °C and may have a kinematic viscosity at 100 °C of between 3 and 6 cSt. The composition may comprises one or more of the following performance additives being an antiwear agent, an antioxidant, an ashless dispersant, a pour point depressant, and antifoam agent, a friction modifier, a corrosion inhibitor and a viscosity modifier.
