PURPOSE:To obtain an inductively coupled electrodeless discharge lamp of such structure that an arc tube can be prevented from coming in contact with an excitation coil and a minute space can be kept between both the tube and the coil and a lighting system using the lamp. CONSTITUTION:An inductively coupled electrodeless discharge lamp has an arc tube 10 wherein a discharging space 13 is formed and a luminous medium is filled, an excitation coil 20 for generating magnetic field coupled discharge in the tube 10, and an abutting member 25 arranged on the inner surface of the coil 20 and for preventing the tube 10 from coming in contact with the inner surface of the coil 20. The tube 10 can be consequently prevented from abutting on the member 25 to come in contact with the coil 20 even if the tube 10 and the coil 20 are combined with each other in an off-center condition. Moreover, magnetic coupling can be heightened because the tube 10 and the coil 20 are spaced from each other with a minute space kept therebetween. |
