Producing a protective covering on a mechanically stable substrate using a polysilicate adhesive and glass sheeting with a thickness of less than 2 mm comprises applying the adhesive to the substrate or to one side of the glass sheeting, laying the glass sheeting on the substrate so that the sheeting covers the adhesive, and hardening the adhesive. An independent claim is also included for a protective covering for a mechanically stable substrate, comprising a layer of polysilicate adhesive uniformly distributed over the substrate and a layer of glass sheeting with a thickness of less than 2 mm covering the adhesive. |
