Device and method of reducing bias flow in oscillatory ventilators

A device and method of ventilating a patient reduces the bias flow relative to existing oscillatory ventilators. The device has a gas flow circuit including an oscillating line, a patient line and an exhalation or a return line. A gas supply line and an outlet valve are in pneumatic communication with the gas flow circuit. One or more CO₂ scrubbers and one or more check valves are provided in the circuit. A method of ventilating using such a device is also disclosed.
