The device has a rectangular back panel (10) supported by vertical upright columns (2a, 2b). The columns have openings (6) cooperating with arms (7) to support horizontal racks (9) inclined from rear towards front. Upper and lower cross-braces (11, 12) are placed above and below the panel. The panel and the cross braces have L-shape hooks cooperating with openings arranged on lateral sides (13) of the columns by bending the panel. An independent claim is also included for a method of assembling a shelf.
