Prodn. of radiation-hardenable acrylate compsns. comprises: (i) the addn. of a cpd. (A) contg. acrylic gps. to a non-radically copolymerisable benzophenone deriv. contg. prim. or sec. amine gp(s), or OH gp. or mercapto gp.. Also claimed are: (1) radiation hardened materials contg. radiation hardenable acrylate compsns.; (2) benzophenone derivs. of formula RCOR<1> (I) as novel cpds.; and (3) prepn. of the novel cpds. (I). R = phenyl or R<1>; R<1> = a gp. of formula (II); and R<2>-R<6> = H, 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C alkoxy, with 1-3 of gps. R<3>-R<6> being a 1-30C organic gp. (X) with a prim. or sec. amine gp., OH gp. or mercapto gp..
